What an entertaining game! After a slow start, Richmond's offense and defense stepped up. End of the game, score 49-45 home team, Richmond has the ball with 1 minute left in the game........4th and goal on the 1 yard line. The 9th man helped out as the D-line denied the Raiders the end zone!!!
I have to admit though, the difference in the game was kicking.........J.R.'s incredible job of making 4 unos, 2 field goals and every extra point compared to Richmond's non-kicking game. No kicker for PATs caused the Raiders to go for the 2 point conversion on their first three touchdowns. All were denied by the Mariner D!!! Then they had someone go in and kick the PATs after that and make everyone!?! With a 4 point lead, Richmond had to go for the touchdown. I think the coaching staff will rethink their game plan the next time because in my opinion, it cost them at least a tie with less then a minute left in the game.
Bottom line............a win is a win! Any good team needs to win even when their team isn't playing their A game. This was the case with our Mariners this week, but I look for them to iron out the wrinkles before they travel to New Jersey to face the Revs.
Congrats to the Mariners for going 4-0 early in this season and looking forward to the next game!
GO MARINERS!!!

Wow, what a game!!!
But i'll say this......Richmond really came to play. Their QB was taking our secondary apart all day. We were very fortunate to get out of this game with a win. That goal line stand at the end really showed what this team is made of. This bye couldnt have come at a better time. We're burned out!!! lol
Oh well!! We're off to Morristown, N.J. in another 2 weeks!!!

That was a nail biter. Here is a little Baltimore AIFA history lesson for those of you who did not know this. Robbie and Mike Jenkins from the Raiders, were one the QB's for Baltimore. Dating back to the Blackbirds days. Robbie and Mike replaced Joe Urso as the starting QB at the start of the second half of the season. They are solid indoor football vets who know how to move the ball and read defenses.
