The unbeaten Mariners (7-0) docked, blocked and rocked to a 91-19 American Indoor Football Association win over Fayetteville and proved that a 59-0 home win in the Guard's season opener was no fluke.
Fayetteville (2-4) had seven turnovers.
"I take full responsibility," said Marcus Wall, after finishing his second game as coach. "The biggest thing we have to develop is heart and that's not an easy thing to teach.
"I thanked their coaches for this whipping because it shows us the elite level in this league."
It was a homecoming for Wall, a star at South View and North Carolina, who served as the Guard's offensive coordinator in recent seasons when Charles Gunnings was coaching the team.
Wall said he had encountered more work from an evaluation and organization standpoint than he had anticipated when he became the team's second head coach this season and fourth in two years.
With the Mariners leading 59-12 at the half, Wall decided to put in recently-signed quarterback Lamar Little for Nick Gildersleeve.
Two interception returns for touchdowns by Baltimore's Adam Goloboske finished Gildersleeve's night. His numbers included 7 of 16 passing for 73 yards with three picks.
Little fared similarly, going 6 for 16 for 52 yards with two interceptions.
"It was like Nick had been beat up enough," Wall said.
Baltimore also pulled its starting quarterback and kept the ball on the ground most of the second half. With the game well out of hand in the second half, some of the Mariners assistant coaches in the press box treated themselves to bagels and sodas in the second half, barely even watching the action. One member of the Baltimore staff at the top of the arena played a game on his cell phone, which was probably more competitive than the action below.
"The bottom line is that we've got a lot of work to do," Gildersleeve said. "We've got some soul searching to do. We've got to regroup."
Baltimore appeared to dress more players and have a larger coaching staff.
Injuries have sidelined Guard linebacker Clenton Cochran and defensive lineman Anthony Dingle, forcing Ken Brown to move from defensive end to tackle.
The Guard will get ready to host the Reading Express next week.
"Even after tonight, I still believe - I know in my heart - that this team is a championship team," Gildersleeve said.
